INBOUND 2016 is here! And what a way to start it off! It's election day 2016, a day that will surely go down in history as one of the most competitive presidential elections, was overshadowed in Boston tonight at Hubspot's Inbound 2016 annual conference by a powerful keynote by none other than Gary Vaynerchuck.
Coming out of the gate, addressing the presidential race head on, but in a slightly different way. Hoping to land an inspiring message on such a distracting night would have been a challenge for just about anyone else, but Gary got right down to business.
For starters, he has a slightly unconventional approach to his keynotes. Filled with profanity, accusations and inspiration all rolled up into this motivational package that makes you feel like you can run through a brick wall as you walk out.
Tonight was about being fearless and more self aware. Using the outcome of the election as a reference point for how you let external factors effect your work and life. He was there to call out marketers for doing sh*t work, provide tangible tactics, so we could all grow up, stop being afraid of the outcome and to simply do better.
His personal story is motivational in itself but to hear him talk about regret adds an entirely different perspective.
I have always had a fascination with regret myself. The idea that you can achieve so much in a lifetime only to think about the things you wish you could have done better or differently, has an inspiring message between the lines.
Gary Vaynerchuck has been on my keynote bucket list for the better part of a decade now and to see him on such a memorable night will surely not carry any regret.
